Callum Smith needed just a round to announce himself to America's fight fans.
The super-middleweight produced a smart finish to finish off Mexican Abraham Hernandez, landing a body shot that had him turning away in pain and a straight right that sent him to the floor.
He slumped over the bottom rope, showing the sparse crowd what damage 24-year-old Smith can do when needed.
It was seconds away from the bell going and another six hours before Kell Brook's battle with Shawn Porter that tops the bill out in Carson, California.
Hernandez, from Monterrey, had walked away from the weigh-in on Friday not wanting anything to do with it and, after losing for the first time as a pro, he might be regretting his decision.
Smith started off well with the jab and the left hooks, up and down in rapid succession, sent out an even earlier warning, but the Mexican gave as good as he got and a nice left uppercut close in suggested he was not going to going to run.
He did though, turn away when that last left landed but thankfully he got up off the canvas shortly afterwards - victory takes Smith's record to 13-0 (10KOs).
