Tony Thompson says he plans to remain in the heavyweight title picture by beating David Price on Saturday week.

The veteran American is expected by many to be another stepping stone to world title glory for the Liverpool prospect, who nonetheless is set to face his sternest test so far on home soil at the Echo Arena.

But 'The Tiger' goes further than that is suggesting he has another title run in him despite being 41.

"All I keep reading is that David fighting (Tyson) Fury is the hottest ticket in UK boxing," he said. "It'll be a cold ticket once I beat David.

"Of course, I appreciate how big a fight it is over there but it won't have the same financial value or appeal when David has a defeat next to his name.

"David's promoter Frank Maloney knows his stuff but he has made a major mistake in bringing me over because I lost my last fight.

"It was against Wladimir Klitschko and there is no shame in that, and I still have ambition. Beating David will make sure I stay in the world title picture."

Thompson has twice fought - and lost - to Klitschko, once in 2009 and again last summer, when he was stopped inside six rounds.
