Quigg shaded the early rounds against the 32-year-old Munroe, and when he cracked in a fine left to the ribs in the sixth, dropping the Leicester man to one knee, it was clear he was on the verge of victory.
The Bury man, part of the Ricky Hatton camp in Hyde, stepped up the pace and soon dumped Munroe again with a flurry of punches, from which it was soon clear Munroe showed little intention to rise.
Cardiff's Gary Buckland retained his British super-featherweight title when opponent Stephen Foster was pulled out by his corner at the end of round eight after sustaining a bad cut to the top of his head.
In a generally even bout, Foster began to bleed heavily from an accidental head clash in the sixth, and after the close attention of the doctor it became clear the Mancunian was going to be unable to continue.
