Maccarinelli stopped by McKenzie

Enzo Maccarinelli's hopes of pushing himself back into world title contention were dealt a blow when he was controversially stopped in the second round of his Commonwealth light-heavyweight clash against Ovill McKenzie.

Enzo Maccarinelli: Stopped in the second round

Former WBO cruiserweight champion Maccarinelli, now campaigning in the division below, was looking to get his career back on track after serving a six-month ban for failing a random drugs test.

Yet despite looking comfortable in the first round, the Welshman came under pressure from McKenzie before referee Ian John-Lewis deemed the Welshman could not continue.

McKenzie's victory was the second defence of the crown he won in November last year by stopping Jeff Evans.
