Alumina appears to have been found a decent chance to shed her maiden, according to Ian Ogg.

Alumina 7.50 Kempton

There's a school of thought that suggests too much choice is a bad thing but I'm not sure that horse racing punters would agree given the rather barren landscape that faces them today.

The Cagnes-sur-Mer form books are close at hand to get us through the afternoon before the action gets underway at Kempton Park at 4.50 with the card building up nicely to the feature race at 8.20.

Half an hour before that, Andrew Balding appears to have found a decent opportunity for Alumina to open her account in division two of the Mix Business With Pleasure At Kempton Handicap over six furlongs.

She didn't appear until the autumn of her juvenile season and had three starts in maidens in relatively quick succession, improving from each run to the next before being put away for a short break.

She reappeared in a Lingfield handicap earlier in the month and was sent off at 4/1 having attracted support. She finished a respectable third although it's a sign how weak the race was that the handicapper has seen fit to drop her initial mark of 55 to 52!

This evening's race doesn't look any stronger and that form alone provides her with decent claims while it's reasonable to hope for a little improvement on just her fifth start.
