David Pipe: His E Street Boy is selected to score at Musselburgh

13.05 Honest Toun Handicap Chase

Lets Get Serious looked a natural chaser when scoring on his debut at Doncaster but this is a big ask under top weight. Blenheim Brook was only beaten a neck over 3m here last time but has gone up 4lb since and this looks a better race.

Niceonefrankie has struggled to match last season's exploits so far this term but should be winning soon and makes more appeal than Bocciani and Eurohunter, while this may be too competitive for course specialist Red Tanber.

SWIFT ARROW may be up the task, however, as he's improving at a rate of knots and should appreciate the extra half-mile as he won over 3m between the flags. His defeat of Hazy Tom here last time looks very decent form.

13.40 Make It More Exciting With totepool Handicap Hurdle

IMPERIAL VIC goes from strength-to-strength and should go close if improving again on a couple of recent C&D victories while Monetary Fund was successful here in November and has been taking on better opposition since.

A watching brief is advised on Drill Sergeant, however, as he is a bit quirky and without a run this season while the front-running Los Nadis needs to step up on recent efforts. Howizee still looks a shade high in the weights and Makhzoon and Markadam may find this too tough.

14.15 Bet toteexacta At Happy New Year Handicap Chase

Everaard has won three times here over hurdles and once over fences. Back over the larger obstacles here, he has to go on the short-list while Angel Sun was only beaten a couple of lengths over C&D last time and has been knocking on the door.

Pena Dorada and Dystonia's Revenge are others to consider but this looks a good opportunity for E STREET BOY to open his account over fences as he's now had a couple of runs to blow away any cobwebs following a break and only 5lb higher than his last success over timber. Exotic Man has only found one too good in both starts over fences but this trip will stretch his stamina.

14.45 totequadpot At Hogmaneigh Handicap Hurdle

Dontpaytheferryman won't mind the ground and isn't badly treated back over hurdles. Kyle James takes off a further 5lb and Brian Ellison's eight-year-old could make his presence felt along with stablemates Capellanus, Ultimate and Amtired. Ingleby Spirit and Agent Archie look to have too much weight, however, and Jason Maguire prefers Call Back to the latter, the five-year-old finding the company too hot in the Gerry Fielden at Newbury on his reappearance.

Jet Master will be prominent but will probably get outpaced in the closing stages and the unbeaten Swing Bowler tackles soft ground for the first time on her handicap debut and hasn't raced for nine months.

RUMBLE OF THUNDER was in the handicapper's grip for most of last year but he's starting to edge down the weights again and showed enough last time to suggest he retains some ability.

He can reverse that form with Ultimate and Mason Hindmarsh on better terms and should start at decent odds for this given recent form figures. Amok is lightly-raced but didn't beat much at Fakenham and also appears a tricky ride.
