Fleetwood and Luton are Nick Hext's tips in his outright preview of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

BRONZE: 1pt e.w. Fleetwood to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at 33/1 (Sky Bet) – the Cod Army reached the Northern Area final last season and have already proved their quality in League 1.

BRONZE: 1pt e.w. Luton to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at 40/1 (Sky Bet) – Luton won the JPT last time they entered back in 2009 and are good price for this season.

North Section

Fleetwood are my tip from the north in this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The Cod Army have adjusted with ease to life in Sky Bet League 2 after winning promotion last term. Graham Alexander's men also have good memories of this tournament from the 2013/14 campaign after making it all the way to the Northern Area final before losing to Chesterfield. They did enjoy their own taste of success at Wembley though with victory in the League 2 play-off final. There's plenty to like about Fleetwood this season and I think they can make an even bigger impact in the JPT.

South Section

There are two defending champions in this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Peterborough return after winning the tournament last year and Luton are back for the first time since lifting the trophy at Wembley in 2009. The Hatters were relegated to the Conference at the end of that season but are now back in the Football League under the astute guidance of John Still. Luton have a bye through the first round of this term's JPT and definitely have the quality to do well when they enter. There have been finalists from League 2 in both of the previous two campaigns so teams from the fourth tier can make an impact. Still's side are the bet from the Southern Area section.
