Most of the attention of the racing world may be on York this afternoon but Marcus Tregoning’s charge rates a solid each-way bet in the TRM GNF Nursery Handicap on the July Course.

He made his debut here when shaping with promise in what has turned out to be a warm maiden before breaking his duck at Brighton next time. It was no surprise, given his connections, that all roads then led to Glorious Goodwood and the seven furlong nursery handicap.

The son of Dark Angel ran well to finish fifth to Grigolo but shaped very much as though there’s more to come. Posted wide from turning in, he found the action happening away from him but finished full of running and looked to be crying out for a step up to a mile.

He gets that here and while 2lb higher in the weights than for his last run, is a horse ready to make an impact at handicap level.

Pasticcio heads the market after a Lingfield win last time having made his debut in the same race as Shaakis at HQ. He's clearly a threat but has been free-going in two starts to date and this step up in trip isn't certain to suit.
