It has been another golden summer for Ben Linfoot's Value Bet column with three big-priced winners at Glorious Goodwood backed up by 18/1 victor Energia Davos at Haydock on Saturday.
The Marco Botti-trained six-year-old cruised through the Betfred Goals Galore Handicap under super-sub Ryan Tate, who pushed out his last-minute spare ride to a comfortable one-and-a-quarter length success in Lancashire.
For an example of the free advice you can get from Ben's column, here is what he wrote about Energia Davos on Friday night:
"The other one I want to be with in the contest is Marco Botti's ENERGIA DAVOS.
"The six year old was a Grade One performer in Brazil and was tried in such exalted company when first coming over to Europe, running behind Arc winner Danedream on one occasion in Germany.
"He was out of his depth, but trawling through his old form there is more than a hint that he will not be inconvenienced by any rainfall and there was plenty to like, regarding his chances at this level, when he was fourth off top weight at Chester on his latest start.
"That he finished a close fourth from a poor draw after racing wide throughout was to his credit, and though the form has worked out horribly there was still enough improvement from his second British start to suggest he could be a player in this grade.
"The handicapper has dropped him a couple of pounds, which helps, and at 18/1 he's worth a small bet."
That advice proved spot on and the Brazilian import was just the latest in a long line of successes for Ben this Flat season.
Suegioo (14/1), Sir Maximilian (9/1), Gabriel’s Lad (25/1), Aetna (14/1), Louis The Pious (40/1), Van Percy (10/1), Red Avenger (25/1) and Take Cover (10/1) are the other winners at advised prices that have contributed to the overall profit in 2014.
And it's not just this year the Value Bet has been churning out big-priced winners, with the running total to advised stakes now +319.59pts since its inception in 2010, a return on investment of over 33% (see stats below).
The Value Bet column is completely free and published on sportinglife.com and bettingzone.com between 4pm and 7pm every Friday and the night before midweek days at the major Festivals, with the column tweeted immediately after publication by @BenLinfoot @sportinglife and @bettingzone.
