Tip of the Day: Brocklebank (20:25 Epsom)
Following the withdrawal of initial selection Ya Latif at Doncaster, I simply can't resist recommending BROCKLEBANK in the Collect totepool Winnings At Betfred Shops Handicap at Epsom.
Following my namesake over the past few years has been something of a rollercoaster ride, but he needs everything in his favour to show his best and dropping in both class and trip could spark something positive here.
Simon Dow's charge is rated 3lb lower than when winning over course and distance last September, while he is 10lb lower than when beaten a short head by George Guru at Lingfield in March.
He has a tendancy to miss a beat at the start but another change in jockey is no bad thing after he completely flopped for Kieran Showmark at Salisbury and he's worth a small each-way play at 20/1 providing the eight runners all go to post.
One horse who looks anything but a fair price is Waffle, who bids to end a remarkable run of defeats when he runs in the ROA Owners Jackpot Claiming Stakes (14:45) at Hamilton.
Beaten 29 times since scoring on debut for previous trainer Jeremy Noseda in April 2008, he has finished second on seven occasions during that period, including the 2011 and 2012 renewals of the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, and will never get a better chance than this to set the record straight.
Having been heavily involved when he just came up short behind Deacon Blues in the first of those fantastic Wokingham efforts, there's a small part of me that would love to see him in the winner's circle today.
But there's a much larger part of me that considers Waffle the 'lay of the day', and there are worse ideas than backing both the relatively prolific (4-19) Fast Finian and previous course scorer Milly's Secret to keep David Barron's charge waiting for his long overdue second win.
