Ah, Good Friday racing. I managed to miss it owing to another lamentable Wildcats defeat at Castleford in the First Utility Super League and a subsequent drowning of the sorrows. But I hear it went well.
House full signs at Lingfield mean something has worked - and Alben Star's victory for the "old team" of Richard Fahey and Paul Hanagan warmed the heart of many a northern racing fan.
It's not that the pair teaming up is now a rare occurrence, but the former champion jockey's new role with Shadwell means he isn't available all that often - but he is for the New Racing UK Anywhere Available Now Handicap at Nottingham this evening.
He partners Skye's The Limit for the Musley Bank team and he went down as a big eyecatcher when fourth on his reappearance here earlier in the month.
Travelling strongly for much of the contest his run petered out close home but a lot of the Fahey horses are taking a step forward for their initial outing this term and it would be no surprise if the son of Pastoral Pursuits was another.
This is a significant drop in grade for him and connections feel he is handicapped to win his share of races - hopefully starting at around 1817 this evening. Otherwise I'll be reaching for that Easter bottle again...
