Phil Taylor has put early-season woes behind him in Premier League Darts and our Carl Longhawn is backing him to win again on Thursday.

It's week 10 of Premier League Darts and with 'Judgement Night' now behind us, it's down the remaining eight players to fight it out for the places on finals night.

The competition for those four places will likely be very close as only four points separate third place and bottom in the adjusted league. At the top, the points already accrued by Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright put them in pole position to claim two of the four places.

This week represents an opportunity for Wright to solidify his position as he has two matches against top-four rivals, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld. Both matches look likely to be very close encounters, especially the clash with Barney, who also faces Dave Chisnall in an earlier contest.

Robert Thornton is the outsider in the race for finals night; he faces Van Gerwen this week so the chances of him making a flying start are slim.

The standout match of the night is Phil Taylor against Adrian Lewis and victory for 'The Power' will see him move into the play-off positions.

Lewis has put in a strange campaign thus far, brilliant at times but often scrappy and inconsistent. After a poor start, Taylor has found some consistency and is on a run of four matches without defeat, winning three.

Statistically, the more consistent performer of the two is Taylor. He averages near 101 for the event compared to Lewis' figure of close to 95.

That's a signifcant gap and shows how Taylor has raised his game since those early woes.

Taking that into account, I am happy to side with Taylor to gain revenge for his loss to 'Jackpot' in Week Two at what looks to be a generous price of evens.
