Ben Linfoot heads to Exeter for his tip of the day and he's keen on one of Dan Skelton's in the novice handicap chase.

3.10 Exeter - TOBY LERONE

If I were to have just one bet today, it would be Toby Lerone in the Higos Insurance Services Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (3.10 Exeter).

This horse caught the eye last time in better company, racing wide most of the way and failing to stay over three miles.

The most crucial thing about that performance, though, was that he clearly handled better ground fine, as he had only previously shown a winning ability on soft or heavy.

But good to soft clearly holds no fears judging by his last run, and, back down in trip against slightly lesser-talented rivals, a bold run is expected.

Prior to that Uttoxeter run he was second over two and a half miles at Sandown, while his two wins earlier in the season both came over that distance.

Today's trip therefore looks ideal and his trainer, Dan Skelton, is red-hot.

Skelton has sent out 18 runners in the last two weeks, winning with seven of them while four of the other 11 were placed for good measure.

Toby Lerone can increase that excellent win ratio today.
