Jose Mourinho's side ended up with nine men on the pitch and the manager himself sent to the stands in a turbulent end to a 1-0 reverse at Villa Park.

The revised betting sees City now 5/4 at Paddy Power but Ladbrokes are as short as 4/5 for them to claim the title as they are now six points behind Chelsea with three games still in hand after they won 2-0 at Hull.

Position Player Score
1 Chelsea 66
2 Man City 60
3 Liverpool 59
4 Arsenal 59

Chelsea can be backed at 6/4 with Sky Bet and bet365 while Liverpool are a best price of 7/1 at Ladbrokes ahead of Sunday's trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arsenal travel to Tottenham in their derby clash on Sunday as well and the Gunners are 25s at bet365.

Sky Bet's Head of Football Trading Paul Wiggins said: "We have granted Mourinho's wish of Chelsea no longer being considered title favourites after their defeat to Aston Villa, with the title firmly back in City's hands.

"Pellegrini's side have consistently attracted the most money for the title and winning at Hull despite playing with 10 men for 80 minutes was the perfect response to their cup loses.

"The fact they can now focus solely on the league should help their chances."
