Shavansky - 6.30 Kempton
Shavansky has been in cracking form on the all-weather this year and has been mighty unlucky not to get his head in front, something that he can hopefully do at Kempton this evening.
The 10-year-old has looked as good as ever in recent starts and has been hampered before running on the last twice he has run at Lingfield.
He couldn't quite get to Indian Jack last time, but gets a 3lb pull at the weights with that rival tonight (not including Shelley Birkett's 5lb claim from last time) and with Andrea Atzeni taking over in the saddle he looks good value to reverse that form.
His last three wins have come at Kempton, winning off marks of 85, 83 and 86, and off 88 today he can notch up another win at the track.
It's a good race with plenty of dangers, but he can put his course experience to good use and land the spoils with a withering late run.
This track and trip looks ideal for him these days, but he's proven his speed over shorter distances and with not too many obvious pace-setters in the contest he shouldn't be too inconvenienced by a slow gallop.
He responds well to pressure, is nearly always held up and the plan will be to swamp the field down the outside in the straight. At the prices, he looks worth backing to do just that.
