Ben Linfoot looks no further than the day's feature, the Higos Insurance Services Devon National Handicap Chase at Exeter, for his tip of the day.

Five Star Wilsham - 3.00 Exeter

There are some small fields at both Exeter and Newcastle today and the day's feature, the Devon National, is no different with last year's winner, The Clyda Rover, a non-runner, taking the field down to seven runners.

That's not great for each-way bets, but I'll be backing FIVE STAR WILSHAM on the nose anyway, as he looks likely to return to the winner's enclosure sooner rather than later judging by his last two efforts.

The first of those was way back in October, and it was on good ground, but it was also at Cheltenham where he ran a blinder to finish second to Hunters Lodge under today's amateur.

Last time, at Ludlow, he was upsides and had every chance when unseating his rider four out and that was further proof that he handles heavy ground fine, something he'd also shown earlier in his career.

He stayed on well to take second at Cheltenham, looked to have every chance of doing the same at Ludlow before his mishap, and off a mark of 117 he has a good chance of going well again.

He was rated in the 130s only two years ago, looks sure to be suited by the step up in trip and is worth a small wager on a trappy day's racing.
