Hurricane Hollow - 4.55 Musselburgh
The met office has issued warnings of hurricane force 12 winds for the areas around Fastnet Rock, Lundy and the Irish Sea and the storm has clearly battered Ireland with news of the abandonments at Clonmel and Thurles.
There would be no more appropriate winner, therefore, of the Suzanne & Nigel 10 Years Together Standard Open NH Flat Race than Keith Dalgleish's promising youngster who, sadly, isn't by Fastnet Rock but Beat Hollow, a far more renowned sire of National Hunt horses.
The four-year-old hosed up on his debut at Carlisle (the third has won since) and was pencilled in to make the long journey south to Cheltenham for a Listed bumper on New Year's Day only to be withdrawn late on.
Presumably something was amiss given that he hasn't raced in the interim but he returns to racecourse action with his yard absolutely flying.
The Carluke handler has saddled four winners in the past fortnight from just 12 runners and hit the target with two of his three runners at Southwell yesterday and the money has already come for Hurricane Hollow with the 3/1 disappearing fast.
There only appear to be a handful of serious rivals in this contest.
Nathan's Pride looked useful in Ireland and his yard is going better now than when he made his British debut while connections are taking 10lbs off his back which means that he's only conceding 3lbs but he can still be taken on under that double penalty.
Coozan George won well over course and distance and Apachee Prince shaped well in a bumper won by the useful Meadowcroft Boy but you need something to make a market and Hurricane Hollow looked very smart indeed on debut and can blow his rivals away.
