Ben Linfoot is hoping Friendly Society can improve on his Cheltenham run for Noel Williams when he lines up at Taunton today.

It's potentially a big week for Alan King's former assistant Noel Williams with a trio of his small string entered up around the country in the coming days.

His first winner, Hot Whiskey 'N Ice, could make his hurdles debut at Chepstow on Friday, ground permitting, and Friendly Society makes his second appearance for the Blewbury handler at a wet Taunton this afternoon.

This son of Moscow Society is of real interest stepped up in trip to three miles in the Iris Sharp Memorial Handicap Chase after a pleasing debut for his new stable at Cheltenham's International Meeting in December.

That race was over two miles and five furlongs and he did well to finish seventh considering he had to avoid a faller in front of him, possibly distracting him when making a mistake at the very next fence.

Still, he jumped and travelled well in the main and that run offers plenty of hope that he'll enjoy the extra distance in this much easier contest.

Heavy ground should hold no fears judging by bits and pieces of his form in Ireland for Michael Hourigan, while the talented Thomas Garner, who rode him in the conditionals race at Cheltenham, takes a valuable 5lb off his back too.

Taunton hat-trick hero Milosam is a threat given his track record, but this is a much tougher test than the races he's been winning here this season while Mentalist keeps finding at least one too good in small fields off his current mark.

Tin Pot Man could be the main danger to the selection, but he keeps on being nudged up the handicap for losing and Friendly Society came down a couple following his Cheltenham effort last time.

With plenty in his favour, today could be his day.
