Sunderland can be backed at 15/8 to reach the Capital One Cup final despite beating Manchester United 2-1 in the first leg of their semi-final.

Coral offer that price after a Fabio Borini penalty gave the Black Cats victory at the Stadium of Light and ensures Sunderland will take a narrow lead into the second leg at Old Trafford on January 22.

Nemanja Vidic had earlier cancelled out a Ryan Giggs own goal but Borini's spot kick condemned Untied to their third successive defeat - the first time they have lost three on the spin since May 2001.

Despite their poor form, United are just 2/5 to reach Wembley and 2/7 to get the win they now require in the second leg.

In the outright betting, Sunderland are into 9/1 to lift the trophy.

Several firms are prepared to offer that price following Tuesday's game, with United drifting to 9/4 with Sky Bet, BetVictor and Paddy Power.

BetVictor cut United to 1/2 to go trophyless in the current season. They are now 6/4 to grab some silverware.

Meanwhile, manager David Moyes is just 11/4 to leave United before the end of May with the same firm.

William Hill slashed Moyes' odds in the Premier League 'sack race' from 16/1 to 7/1 as a result of their latest defeat.

However, Coral have him at 16s, clearly feeling there is little chance of the United board acting so soon into the former Everton boss' reign.

Sam Allardyce remains an odds-on favourite in the market - he takes his West Ham side to Manchester City in the second semi-final on Wednesday night.

City are currently the odds-on favourites across the board to win the competition. BetVictor will give you 4/6.
