Racing tip of the day
Will our man Will Hayler be seeing out 2013 with a tasty bottle of something paid for by an 8/1 winner at Lingfield?

Tip of the Day: The Tichborne - 13.30 Lingfield
It's the day before every racehorse celebrates their birthday and there are 28,000 of them in Britain in training and at stud, according to a press release sent out this morning by Great British Racing.
To 'celebrate' the event, a carrot cake was presented to Big Buck's to mark the occasion. Quite what Big Buck's had done to deserve it, I'm not sure. He's not even run in 2013. I'd have given it to Galician, or Area Fifty One, or most of the horses from the Milton Bradley yard.
Today's selection is The Tichborne, whose variables have been tickled with in a bid to see him return to form in the first division of the Download The Ladbrokes App Handicap (1330) at Lingfield.
A change of jockey, the return to the use of the visor, the move back up to a mile are all employed to try and turn his fortunes around, but what I'm most interested in is the fact that his mark has dropped to 75, enabling him to line up in a class five contest. His only two previous starts at this level have returned a win and a third.
Robert Winston is riding well and I expect to see the selection held up off the pace here, with the visor seemingly less prone to lighting him up than the hood-and-cheekpieces combination he has been wearing more recently.
If he wins, I shall see in the New Year while rocking a weeping, teething baby with a bottle of Hooegaarden Grand Cru in my hand. If he loses, the same, but without the beer.
