Racing tip of the day
Ben Linfoot heads to Newbury on a stellar day of racing action for his tip of the day.
2.45 Newbury: Tistory
There's top-quality action everywhere you look today.
Lancelot Du Lac, Alben Star and Hoof It are three of the 12 doing battle in the £28,000 Compare Bookmakers At bookmakers.co.uk Handicap at Lingfield, Friday's Cheltenham winner King Massini is officially 3lb well in for the Tanners Wines Handicap Chase at Ludlow and favourite Castilo Del Diablo bids to overcome a wide draw in the £37,000 Betdaq - The Sports Betting Exchange Handicap at Kempton.
However, it's the card at Newbury that appeals the most to me and after debating over whether Sonofagun or Tistory should carry my cash (both may well yet, oh yes) it's the latter I've plumped for as the tip of the day.
He's one of 14 going to post for the E.B.F. Stallions 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle at 2.45, but only two look to have realistic chances of winning with the selection and Broomfield the standout players on form.
It all comes down to whether you think Tistory can give 7lb to Broomfield and win, and at the prices I'm happy to chance that he can.
Nicky Henderson's charge beat Court Minstrel in a bumper, made eye-catching headway to lead in the Grade One Aintree bumper before weakening into seventh late on, and then won on his hurdling debut at Towcester in May.
He looks a top-notch prospect and while Broomfield sets a good standard (rated 125), Tistory could climb high rank in the novice hurdling division this season and he looks capable of reaching a much higher level.
Broomfield couldn't live with Doctor Harper at Exeter, then travelled well but found a couple too good over two furlongs further here at Newbury last time.
It could be a case of same again today, as in Tistory he might just have bumped into another high-class rival.
