Ben Linfoot heads to the Southwell fibresand for his tip of the day with a Michael Appleby filly well-fancied.

Southwell: Hopefully the scene of Ivy Port's win in the 1.00

Ivy Port 1.00 Southwell

I was struggling to be inspired for a tip today until I saw that fibresand specialist IVY PORT was available at 5/2 in the 32Red Fillies' Handicap at 1.00.

After expecting her to be a much shorter price jolly, such odds make great appeal and can be explained by the support for Mark Johnston's Frost Fire.

While she is interesting on her handicap and Southwell debut, Michael Appleby may just have found the perfect race for Ivy Port who has finished 2-1-4-2 around here on her four appearances at the track.

None of those races were confined to her own sex like today and though she is 3lb out of the handicap, she can make most of the weight she receives from all of her rivals.

The daughter of Deportivo kept on well over seven furlongs here last time, pulling eight lengths clear of the third and that looks pretty solid form in the context of this race.

Therefore, the return to a mile should help her, she represents connections with healthy strike-rates at the course and all-in-all, she looks a fairly solid wager on a low-key day.
