Munjaz - 16.10 Newmarket
The Newmarket dogs have plenty to answer for. Their barking has seen me hitch my wagon to many a colt or filly over the years only to fail to cut myself loose before the cliff looms large.
They're at it again today with tips flying around for Ian's Memory and Steve Rogers at Kempton and numerous others at Headquarters this afternoon.
And sadly I'm listening to them with Munjaz in what looks to be a fascianting maiden at 1610. The son of Sea The Stars has long thought to be high up the pecking order at John Gosden's yard and made a most pleasing debut when sent off favourite for a traditionally warm maiden over at the July Course.
It took him a while to get the hang of things and he gave the distinct impression there was much better to come.
It's interesting that connections opt to run him again here rather than wait for a maiden in the spring but his recent work is said to have been of the highest order and he should handle prevailing conditions.
Stablemate Danjeu is also reported to be above average and Touch The Sky shaped well on debut for Lady Cecil but there will be many a long face in the Shadwell team if Munjaz doesn't deliver this afternoon.
