Craig Williams was sat way down the pack as they turned in for home, and brought the six-year-old down the outside with a blistering late run to be second.

That visually impressive burst of speed has clearly caught the imagination of the punters and bookmakers alike and Marco Botti's six-year-old is rated a 6/1 chance across the majority of the bookmakers.

William Hill initially went 8/1 though they were soon knocked over and 13/2 is their current call.

Hawkspur, who was sent off favourite for the race could only manage a running on seventh and reaction has been mixed with Coral offering 12/1 while sportingbet go just 7/1.

Fawkner is still available at 33/1 with bet365 to win at Flemington but there was no change to the price of Fiorente.

The former Sir Michael Stoute inmate is now trained by Gai Waterhouse and he remains either favourite or joint-favourite with the firms at a best price of 6/1.
