1340 Doncaster European Breeders' Fund Carrie Red Fillies' Nursery
Richard Hughes chooses Chutney ahead of top weight Suite and the less-exposed Arranger but others are preferred to the Hannon trio in a competitive-looking affair. Gown sprang a surprise at Sandown and may be capable of better while Atlantic Affair never seems to run a bad race. Nakuti is improving with experience while Les Gar Gan is likely to appreciate the slightly longer trip having failed to quicken over 6f at Hamilton. Joey Haynes claims 5lb off the consistent Ticking Katie but, having been tried over 5f, 6f and a mile, this could turn out to be AQLAAM VISION's best trip and she can finally get her head in front under William Buick after a fine run behind Anglophile at Salisbury. Cornish Path may be a couple of pounds too high but is still preferred to Thirsk winner Inyourdreams of the remainder.
1410 Doncaster Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes
Three-year-olds have won 10 of the last 11 renewals so it's probably safe to put a line through older mares Boastful and Switcher while Irish raider Bethany Bay looks to have a mountain to climb at the weights. Nargys appears to be going backwards but Annecdote goes from strength-to-strength, beating WINNING EXPRESS, The Gold Cheongsam and Nargys in this grade at Goodwood last month. Ed McMahon's filly enjoys a 3lb turnaround in the weights with Jonny Portman's charge, however, and that should be enough to take revenge for her three-quarters-of-a-length defeat at the Sussex track. She gets the nod though Maureen has her sights lowered and will be a danger, despite a penalty. She makes much more appeal than stablemate Zurigha and Ghasabah.
1440 Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance 300,000 2-Y-O Stakes
There's a huge prize up for grabs in this and it's no surprise that it's attracted a big entry, though Der Blaue Reiter is a likely absentee having been beaten in a Leicester seller on Tuesday. Ben Hall, sixth in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood last time, has the highest official rating but the Hannon yard regularly farms these valuable sales races and field four here. COULSTY looks the pick of the weights ahead of the hat-trick-seeking Art Official on his second to Gimcrack winner Astaire at Newmarket and he was only beaten half-a-length in a competitive nursery at York last month when subsequent Baden Baden Listed winner Suzi's Connoisseur was behind. Zaraee and Tanzeel are relatively unexposed and should continue heading in the right direction while Khalice has got his act together with a couple of wins at Ripon and may improve past stablemates Foxy Clarets and Regiment. Azagal wasn't beaten far in the Lowther at York and could be well weighted on that form but Goodwood runner-up Rosso Corsa may need further.
1515 Doncaster DFS Park Hill Stakes
John Gosden isn't one to tilt at windmills so it's interesting to see Lingfield maiden winner Phiz lining up in this Group 2. Epsom Oaks third The Lark disappointed at Saint-Cloud next time but must have a chance here if she stays. Wadaa's stamina isn't in doubt, but she may not have the pace to live with some of these. Alta Lilea has already had 11 starts this year and turned in a shocker at Chester last time when behind Bite Of The Cherry. But she did finish ahead of Jathabah and Jehannedarc in a Group 3 earlier so can't be discounted. SEAL OF APPROVAL met trouble in-running in a Listed race at Newbury last month but quickened nicely once a gap appeared and was value for more than the neck by which she beat Songbird. She's a late developer and can step up again to complete her hat-trick with Coquet preferred to Saint Hilary of the others.
