There have been 14 confirmations for the final Classic of the season, including a strong entry from Ireland the sponsors bet just 4/5 about the winner being trained in the Emerald Isle.
Spokesman David Williams commented: "The Irish look to have a very strong hand and providing the big guns from Ballydoyle turn up it's statistically likely that the Leger trophy will be heading across the Irish Sea come Saturday evening."
Those 'big guns from Ballydoyle' include Queen's Vase winner Leading Light and the twice-raced Great Voltigeur second Foundry as well as Eye Of The Storm but it's the John Gosden-trained Excess Knowledge and Galileo Rock from David Wachman's yard that the punters want to be with as Betfair spokesman Barry Orr revealed.
"Galileo Rock is our strong market leader and has given every indication that this extended trip will suit. Excess Knowledge has been very well supported also and given connections, that is no surprise," he commented.
The pair can both be backed at 4/1 with Leading Light and Foundry next in the betting at 11/2 and 6/1 (all prices general) respectively.
Gosden could also be represented by Bahrain Trophy winner Feel Like Dancing (16/1) while Godolphin have a strong team to choose from including Gordon Stakes winner Cap O'Rushes, Libertarian and Secret Number all in the mix.
Their strongest contender, according to the market, is Libertarian who is a top price 9/1 (youwin) and it's then double figure prices the remainder and they are led by Epsom Oaks winner Talent at 16/1 (general).
