England are out to 11/2 not to qualify for the World Cup after moving top of their group with a 4-0 win over Moldova.

Friday's result, coupled with Montenegro's 1-1 draw in Poland, was enough for Roy Hodgson's men to climb to the summit of Group H on goal difference.

William Hill lengthened them to a standout 11/2 not to make the trip to Brazil next summer but three tough games in the pool remain, starting with Ukraine away on Tuesday night.

That clash is followed by home games next month with the other two sides still in contention to top the group - Montenegro and Poland.

Montenegro 8 15 +7
Ukraine 7 14 +15
Poland 7 10 +5

England are a best of 1/9 with BetVictor to make the 2014 tournament, while they are 2/5 to finish top of the group (Ladbrokes, Coral) - something which would book their finals place automatically. If they finish second, they will likely face a play-off in November.

Ukraine, 9-0 winners over San Marino on Friday, are now regarded as England's biggest challengers. They can be backed at 11/4 to top the pool.

England are priced up at 6/4 (bet365) to win in Kiev on Tuesday, while Ukraine are general 2/1 shots. The draw is a 12/5 chance with bwin.

Danny Welbeck bagged two goals on the way to victory over Moldova and he was duly cut from 4/9 to 2/5 to make the 23-man England squad for the finals by Sky Bet. He won't, however, play on Tuesday due to suspension.

Rickie Lambert also notched on his competitive debut and the Southampton striker is in from 5/2 to 2/1 to make the cut. Everton's Ross Barkley is 4/1 to go after making his debut as a substitute.

In the World Cup outright market, England can be backed at 25/1 to lift the trophy, a quote which makes them eighth favourites on best price.

Confederations Cup winners and hosts Brazil head the market on 7/2 with Argentina, Germany, holders Spain, Belgium, Italy and Holland all rated more likely winners.

Some layers also have Colombia ahead of England in the betting.
