Gareth Bale is 8/1 to outscore new team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo in La Liga this season after finally joining Real Madrid.

Sky Bet offer that price after Bale completed his protracted transfer from Tottenham on Sunday evening for what is believed to be a world-record fee of £85million.

Bale scored 21 Premier League goals for Spurs last season whereas Ronaldo netted 34 in Spain's Primera Division and has one so far this term. Overall, the Portuguese has a strike rate of more than a goal a game for the club.

Bale was initially chalked up as a 10/1 shot but that was quickly trimmed.

Sky Bet football trader Chris Spicer said: "While Bale enjoyed a phenomenal run of form last season, he was still not outscoring Ronaldo or Messi, so we question whether he'll be topping the charts in his first season in Spain."

Paddy Power have the pair in an appearances match bet and make Ronaldo the 1/5 favourite with Bale offered at 11/4.

Bale's league goals line has already been set at 14.5 or 15.5, depending which bookie you head to.

Over 14.5 is 11/10 at Ladbrokes. Under 14.5 is 10/11 with BetVictor or under 15.5 5/6 with bet365.

For those fancying Bale to kick on even further in Spain, Ladbrokes' 100/1 about him being the league's top scorer this season may be of interest.

The same firm offer the top price of 25/1 about the 24-year-old winning the FIFA Ballon d'Or award in 2014. Messi, winner of that honour in each of the last three years, is the favourite.

Meanwhile, Sky Bet make it a 10/1 chance that Bale, who has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu, is back in the Premier League by September 1 next year.

They also offer 4/1 about the world transfer record being broken again before that date.

The Leeds-based firm also offer a series of debut specials.

Bale is 11/10 to score in his first match and 6/1 to net a brace. A hat-trick is a 25/1 chance. He is also 33/1 to be booked for diving and 66/1 to receive a debut red card.

Real's next match is away to Villarreal on the weekend of September 14-15.
