With the recent proliferation of National Hunt fixtures you might be forgiven for thinking that we were slap bang in the middle of the Flat season and there are likely to be no shortage of short price favourites to get stuck into at Worcester.

Tony McCoy and Jonjo O'Neill have bashed the bookies into submission over the last seven days and with any of their runners invariably being offered at shorter than their formbook chance suggests, there could be some value in opposition this afternoon.

Old Pals Act appears likely to go off as favourite for the first division of the Compare Bookies Free Bets At Handicap Hurdle at 1720 but the five-year-old faces no easy task in giving weight to all his rivals and he didn't appear to be the most straight-forward of individuals when hanging up the run in at Uttoxter last time out.

Jigsaw Financial is sure to have gained some much needed confidence after his convincing success over course and distance but at the current odds of reward, WILLIAM HOGARTH appears to have a realistic chance of making the frame.

Keith Goldsworthy's eight-year-old has never really built upon the promise he showed a couple of seasons ago but the handicapper does appear to have given him a chance off his current mark of 96 having rated him some 15lb higher at the same stage last year.

Fitness shouldn't be an issue as he has had a recent run on the Flat and Richard Johnson takes over from a conditional rider in the saddle.

Available at around 12/1 at the time of writing, one really doesn't have to have much on to work out whether its significant or not.
