The Mercedes driver started the race from second on the grid but looked set for a long afternoon after watching team-mate Lewis Hamilton lead Sebastian Vettel through the opening stages of the race.
However, Hamilton's chances ended when he endured a puncture before new leader Vettel saw his engine fail for the first time in over five years, which forced his retirement.
That left Rosberg clear to fend off a late charge from Mark Webber and the German is now a general 33/1 chance to win the title having been as big as 80/1 before the race.
Vettel remains favourite at a general 4/9 ahead of 7/2 chance Fernando Alonso, who progressed from tenth to third to close the gap in the overall standings to 21 points.
Kimi Raikkonen is now a best of 16/1 with BetVictor and 14/1 generally despite being passed three times late on to finish fifth, a result which leaves him 34 points behind Vettel in third overall.
Hamilton is no bigger than 20/1 having produced a superb Silverstone drive to finish fourth despite his tyre failure and it's 150/1 bar this quintet.
In the Constructors' Championship, Mercedes have been cut to general 6/1 second-favourites behind 2/7 market leaders Red Bull and ahead of Ferrari at 7/1 with Ladbrokes.
