The racing team believe Sir Michael Stoute's fine start to May can continue at Lingfield.

Sir Michael Stoute: Has his string in fine form

Mr Maynard 3.50 Lingfield

The month of May could hardler have got off to a better start for the veteran Newmarket handler with only Lucanin letting the team down when third in a maiden on Kempton's evening card.

Estimate was the star of the show when winning the Group Three Sagaro Stakes at Ascot in fine fashion but a double at Pontefract didn't go unnoticed.

Yesterday's treble saw Stoute's tally for May number just one behind his total number of winners for April and it's clear for all to see that the stable is really going through the gears as the season builds momentum.

Stoute has three runners at Lingfield this afternoon, starting off with Playbill in the Aurora Fireworks Median Auction Maiden Stakes and it would be no surprise to see her improve on her sole juvenile start now granted a more suitable test of stamina.

The last of the trio is Mission Approved who reappears in the Derby Trial Coming Soon Handicap, a typically competitive looking three year old handicap but the runner that gets the dubious honour of being the Tip Of The Day is Mister Maynard.

Just seven runners go to post for the Vines BMW Handicap and the four year old from Freemason Lodge immediately takes the eye.

A promising juvenile, he disappointed in just two starts early last season so something has to be taken on trust but it's interesting that Stoute not only perseveres with the son of Notnowcato but also that he is still entire despite flopping in 2012.

He should relish this step up in trip and has been solid in the market for his seasonal reappearance since the betting opened and can be backed at 11/4 (general 5/2) to continue a fine start to an important summer for the Newmarket handler who has a certain Derby favourite in Telescope still waiting in the wings.
