Maureen odds tumble for Guineas

BetVictor have cut Newbury winner Maureen from 33s to 14s for the Qipco 1000 Guineas after her fluent success in the Fred Darling Stakes.

Richard Hughes timed his run to perfection in the seven-furlong contest as she held off Agent Allison in the closing stages.

Hot Snap remains 4/1 favourite with the firm while Sky Bet were more impressed and make the winner 10s from 25s for Classic glory.

Maureen is also 14/1 (from 33/1) with Betfred as connections confirmed after the race that she would take her chance in the first fillies' Classic of the season at Newmarket in 15 days' time.

Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: "Maureen won nicely enough this afternoon but we didn't see anything that suggests she's up to mixing it with Hot Snap, who remains the one to beat in the 1000 Guineas market."

Maureen is into 12/1 from 25s for the Guineas with Ladbrokes and their spokesman David Williams said: "Maureen showed a great attitude to suggest that a mile at Newmarket could well be within her range.

"Messrs Hannon and Hughes remain red hot."

Runner-up Agent Allison is 20/1 from 40s for the Classic while the firm make

Maarek 7/1 from 10s for the Duke of York Stakes next month on the Knavesmire following his success at Naas.

Later on the card at Newbury, Olympic Glory landed the odds in taking fashion in the Aon Greenham Stakes.

He remains entered for the Qipco 2000 Guineas and is 12/1 at Betfred but looks set to run in the French equivalent instead.
