Chandlery: Can claim the Doncaster Mile

2.05 Kempton Betfred The Home Of Goals Galore Handicap

GREY MIRAGE has been caught close home over a mile at Lingfield on both starts this year. The drop back in distance looks a logical move on that basis and Marco Botti's charge can return to winning ways.

Head Of Steam won nicely over track and trip in December but is upped in class off a 5lb higher mark for this, while Verse Of Love seems to have lost his edge since winning at Wolverhampton in January.

Shamaal Nibras has decent claims with a recent comeback under his belt and Mabait is capable at this level. Glen Moss hasn't raced since July but should be stronger this year while Light From Mars and Free Spin are closely matched on earlier running over track and trip.

2.20 Doncaster bet365 Doncaster Mile Stakes

Andrew Balding trained the disappointing favourite Side Glance for last year's renewal and will be hoping Highland Knight gives a better account. The latter is closely matched with Sovereign Debt on running at Salisbury last term and went on to land a Group 2 race in Germany.

Gabrial wasn't disgraced in pattern company last term and should go well but Moonstone Magic went wrong in last season's 1000 Guineas having won the Fred Darling at Newbury impressively before that and might not line-up unless there is significant rain.

Connections will be hoping she can fulfil her early potential this year, but the vote goes to another on a recovery mission in CHANDLERY. The winner of the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood in 2011, he missed the whole of last year but an entry in next month's Group 1 Lockinge Stakes suggests Richard Hannon's colt has been showing all the right signs at home.

2.40 Kempton Betfred 'Bonus King Bingo' Conditions Stakes

Thistleandtworoses is the only one with a recent outing having won a maiden over track and trip last month. He could have been found an easier opportunity than this and a big run is expected. However, it could pay to stick with proven form and GLEAN rates the selection on that score.

He finished a creditable third in a Group 3 at Newmarket in September and any improvement on that should see Richard Hannon's colt come out best as he beat Code Of Honor earlier last season and the latter went on to win at Newbury and Doncaster. One Word More finished ahead of Georgian Bay when third in a Doncaster conditions race in September but winning handicapper Ashamaly found Listed company too hot for him at Lingfield last time and needs more here.

2.55 Doncaster Handicap

Northside Prince hasn't won since 2010 but usually tries his best. Beyond Conceit should be stronger this year and may be up to winning off his current mark while Fennell Bay will be looking to take advantage of his slide down the handicap.

Man Of Plenty has more scope than both Franciscan and Bowdler's Magic but recent Polytrack winner Wyborne should be capable of further progress back on the Turf.

Royal Peculiar appears to have developed a preference for the all-weather and EAGLE ROCK has been trying his luck over hurdles. But the latter ran some good races in better company than this on the Flat last season and Tom Tate's charge gets the speculative vote in a tough handicap to call.

3.15 Kempton Betfred Snowdrop Fillies' Stakes

Lily's Angel has found life tough in Group races since rattling up a four-timer that included wins on the all-weather tracks at Dundalk and Meydan. The Irish filly should give a good account and Burke's Rock has leading claims on her head defeat in similar company to this at Lingfield in November when Love Your Looks finished third.

Dutch Rose beat Whimsical at York in August and the latter went on to win a couple of races before the end of last season including a victory over 7f here. Miss Dashwood has plenty to find at the weights but James Fanshawe trained last year's winner and must think she has a chance while dual Newmarket winner I'm So Glad could also figure. STIRRING BALLAD came up just short on her recent reappearance over 7f at this track but the return to a mile with that run under her belt can see her back to winning ways in this.

3.30 Doncaster bet365 Handicap

Both Thunderball and Jack Dexter scored over track and trip at the rescheduled Lincoln meeting a fortnight ago where they accounted for most of today's opposition between them. The former beat Spinatrix and King Of Jazz but would prefer softer ground and recent Warwick winner Prodigality may reverse earlier running with Scott Dixon's charge on this faster surface.

Jack Dexter beat Our Jonathan and Hitchens in a Listed event but is also at his best with plenty of cut. Move In Time bounced back to form at Musselburgh on his first start for a new yard and remains on a winning mark despite a 10lb hike, while the veteran Tax Free and Newmarket winner Hamza will appreciate the forecast ground.

So will DUKE OF FIRENZE, who showed progressive form in sprints last year with a nose defeat at Newmarket his best effort - Sir Michael Stoute's charge gets the nod on his return.

3.50 Kempton Betfred Mobile Lotto Handicap

SOLAR DEITY continued his progressive form with a defeat of Kenny Powers in Listed company at Wolverhampton last month. He'd earlier beaten the re-opposing George Guru and Atlantis Crossing at Lingfield and can go in again. The latter has since won over 7f here while Chapter And Verse finished ahead of Nazreef when third on his latest start but has yet to win off a mark as high as today's. Loving Spirit and Mister Music are others with a shout on last year's best form but both are proving hard to win with.
