The draw is now odds-on in the first Test between England and New Zealand after rain washed out the opening day's play in Dunedin.

A stalemate is now a best price of just 8/11 at Coral having been a general 5/2 chance pre-match on a day when the only significant action was the toss - England lost it and were put in to bat - and the news that Graeme Swann will miss the series with an elbow injury.

England are as big as 2/1 with Blue Square having been as short as 1/2 in places before the game, while a home win is now double-figure prices.

When England do get their innings under way, Nick Compton is 8/11 (Sky Bet) to be the first man dismissed, with Alastair Cook 13/10 (bet365).

With the draw now favoured in Dunedin, Stan James have cut the price for England to win the series 2-0 to 6/4 from 2/1 while pushing a 3-0 whitewash out to 3/1 from 2/1. A 1-0 win is 6/1 from 8s, with a 0-0 draw 14s from 22s.
