Jose Mourinho's side came from behind on the night to seal a 2-1 win and a 3-2 aggregate victory thanks to goals from substitute Luka Modric and returning hero Cristiano Ronaldo.

A Sergio Ramos own goal had put United ahead but the pivotal moment in the game came when Nani was sent off for a high challenge which left Sir Alex Ferguson furious on the touchline.

BetVictor make Real Madrid 5/2 favourites for the competition while bet365 and Blue Square make them 9/4 market leaders. The La Liga side are also favourites with Ladbrokes who offer a standout 11/4.

Borussia Dortmund sailed through to the last eight after they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 on the night for a 5-2 aggregate win and the German side are generally 11/2 to lift the trophy.

Fellow Bundesliga side Bayern Munich are 100/30 second favourites while Barcelona, 2-0 down ahead of their second-leg with AC Milan, are 11/2.

The draw for the quarter-final takes place on Friday March 15.

Coral are 9/4 about Real Madrid and their spokesman Tim Reynolds said: "Real Madrid fully deserve their favouritism tag and if Jose Mourinho's side can get a favourable draw for the quarter-finals, you wouldn't write off Real taking Barcelona's crown, especially as the defending champions need to overturn a two goal deficit against AC Milan to qualify."

William Hill offer 20/1 that Cunyet Cakir referees the final following his performance at Old Trafford.

"It was a shame such a fantastic spectacle was spoiled by a dubious red card and the controversy will not have done the Turkish official any favours in his quest to officiate the final," said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
