Manchester United may well be the happier side after drawing 1-1 with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Bernabeu but the Spanish giants are marginal favourites to qualify for the next round.

Danny Welbeck's first-half header gave the Red Devils a precious away goal before United old boy Cristiano Ronaldo headed a brilliant equaliser.

Ronaldo also came close with a dipping 40-yard free-kick, while David de Gea needed to produce excellent saves to twice deny Fabio Coentrao and the outstanding Mesut Ozil.

Robin van Persie also missed a golden opportunity to seal victory for the visitors, who will now fancy their chances of progression ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford on March 5.

William Hill cut United to even money from 5/4 to qualify for the quarter-finals. bet365 also went evens.

bet365, Sky Bet and Stan James all made Real 4/5 shots to reach the last eight. bwin had them at a slightly better, more bizarre, 11/13.

The second leg has also been priced up in places. Boylesports make both sides 8/5 to win the game but both Sky Bet and Stan James and bwin make Real slightly more likely to win it - the latter will give you 9/5 about United.

In the outright market, Real are now a best of 13/2 with youwin to lift the trophy at Wembley in May. United are general 10/1 shots.

In Wednesday's other game, Borussia Dortmund held Shakhtar Donetsk to a 2-2 draw in Ukraine.

The Germans are now 8/1 (youwin) and Dontesk out to 100s with bwin.
