Motherwell's winning league run came to an end when they were beaten 2-1 at St Mirren on Friday night and they could be set for more misery on Boxing Day.

Stuart McCall's side had won three successive games heading into that one but worryingly for 'Well fans, their home form remains a big problem.

Only Dundee have taken less points on their own patch than Motherwell who have won just twice in 10 games.

Aberdeen were winners at Fir Park in the Scottish Cup earlier this month and, like their opponents, have a better record away than at home.

The Dons would move level on points with 'Well should they win and I reckon they're worth backing at 12/5.

Inverness continued their remarkable run of form with a 4-1 win against Dundee on Saturday but once again they failed to keep a clean sheet - so despite sitting second, only the bottom club have conceded more goals than Terry Butcher's men.

They are worthy odds-on favourites for this one but it may be worth backing a Saints scorer. And that has to mean Steven Thompson.

The former Scotland international has struck nine times in all competitions and grabbed a double in the aforementioned win against Motherwell on Friday night.

There's little doubt Saints will create chances against a leaky Caley Thistle defence that has managed only three clean sheets in the SPL.

Thompson looks a decent shout at 11/4 in the anytime scorer market.
