SHAW CAN'T REPEAT HEROICS

Britain's "Bionic Woman" Lorraine Shaw failed to repeat her heroics of last year when she struck gold at the Commonwealth Games as she missed out on the final stages of the hammer at the World Championship in Paris.

Shaw - who overcame major back surgery to become the nation's top thrower - was unable to produce her best form and went out before the final stages as the gold was won by Cuba's Yipsi Moreno who easily retained her title.
