BORSUMATO SUFFERS FRACTURED ANKLE

Great Britain's Anthony Borsumato fractured his left ankle when crashing out of the 400 metres hurdles at the World Championships in Paris, it was confirmed on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Sale Harrier was carried from the track on a stretcher after smacking into the eighth hurdle in his opening semi-final at the Stade de France on Wednesday.

Borsumato, who fell down in pain, was taken to a local hospital where x-rays confirmed the ankle was broken, bringing his season to an end.

"It hasn't been decided yet whether Anthony will be treated here or taken back to the UK," said the team's spokeswoman.

Long jumper Nathan Morgan, meanwhile, faces further tests on the ankle he injured on his second-round jump in qualifying.
