Great Britain's 4x400 metres men's relay team rounded off the World Championships this evening with a sixth-place finish in Osaka.
Andrew Steele, Rob Tobin, Richard Buck and Martyn Rooney clocked three minutes 02.94 seconds in a race who by the USA in a world-leading time of 3mins 55.56secs.
Great Britain's quartet led after the first leg but almost suffered a disaster at the start of the third as Buck, only moments after receiving the baton from Tobin, stumbled after colliding with Germany's Kamghe Gaba.
He was able to stay on his feet, but fell behind the leaders before Rooney guided home the team, who were without Tim Benjamin.
Benjamin complained of a sore throat and fever following his 400m semi-final, which forced him to miss Saturday's heat.
The USA completed a clean sweep of the relay gold medals after winning both men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400m world crowns this weekend.
