Great Britain's Abby Westley and Lisa Dobriskey have both missed out on a place in the women's 1500m final.
Westley finished a battling eighth in her semi-final after storming down the home straight to finish in 4mins 16.21 secs.
She had looked in contention with 200m to go in a slow race, but the youngest female in the Great Britain squad at 20, had left herself too much to do in her first taste of World-class athletics.
"It was an incredibly slow pace. I haven't been in a race that slow all season and it took me a little bit by surprise. It was more like a 600 metre sprint at the end but unfortunately I wasn't in the right place and couldn't close it at the end," she said.
"I thought before that that was a place in the final for the taking and if I had been a little more in contact with the leaders when it kicked off I would have stood a better chance. I did try my best to be in that position but with the kind of girls you are racing with who are world-class athletes they are not going to give you an inch."
Training partner Dobriskey finished 10th in a much quicker second semi-final in 4mins 08.39secs after being forced to run the final 600m minus a shoe on her injured left foot.
"I tried and kept running, but I felt like I wasn't in my stride and my rhythm, wasn't right," she said.
"I prefer to step off the track feeling like I have given everything I could have and I didn't feel that tired at the end. I felt good in the race and got to 800 feeling strong and I was quite optimistic and quite positive."
