Veronica Campbell edged out Lauryn Williams and Carmelita Jeter to clinch the women's 100 metres gold medal in dramatic circumstances at the World Championships in Osaka.
In a photo finish, the Jamaican was given the verdict from defending champion Williams with Jeter awarded the bronze.
So close were Campbell and Williams, they shared the same time of 11.01 seconds, one-hundredth-of-a-second ahead of Jeter.
It took five minutes for the official result to come through as officials studied replay after replay.
When it did Campbell could begin her celebrations.
She said: "I was very confident - even when we did not know the result of the photo-finish - because I know that I have got excellent top speed and a strong finish."
The Olympic 200m champion added: "This medal means a lot to me and the title is important for my career. The title of world champion was missing in my collection.
"It was a very competitive race. I just feel great. Now I have to focus on my 200 metre heats tomorrow."
Williams said: "It's been a long hard year with lots of ups and downs, so I'm proud I could be part of the photo-finish.
"If I had realised we were so close, I wouldn't have leaned so early and run one or more two steps instead."
