BRONZE FOR BRITISH WOMEN
Great Britain's 4x400m women's relay team picked up a bronze medal on Sunday in Helsinki.
The British quartet of Lee McConnell, Donna Fraser, Nicola Sanders and Christine Ohuruogu just held off Poland to take third place behind champions Russia and Jamaica.
It was nip and tuck on the final leg, run by Ohuruogu.
The British star was balked by her Polish opponent Anna Jesien shortly after the changeover, but went back past her down the back straight.
The Pole made her bid coming off the final bend but Ohuruogu drifted out to block her path before just holding on at the finish line.
The Poles later protested about Ohuruogu's move, but the result stood.
Ohuruogu said: "I was not trying to impede anybody - I was just
trying to win the race.
"It was not intentional. I had to go into lane three at the start because
they were blocking me and I could have complained about that but I didn't and I
cut back in."
