Poland's walking ace Robert Korzeniowski took gold in the men's 50km walk on
Saturday morning.
Korzeniowski pounded the streets of Edmonton to complete the course in
3.42.08.
The decisive break came with around 18km to go as he moved clear of Aigars
Fadejevs of Latvia.
Fadejevs was soon caught by Spain's Jesus Angel Garcia who took silver and
there was further agony for the Latvian as he was overtaken for the bronze
medal inside the stadium by Mexico's Edgar Hernandez.
It was Korzeniowski's second world title as this distance. He has also won
the Olympic title on two occasions.
