Cruel defeat for brave Radcliffe in Seville (Allsport)
HUTCHINGS ON THE WOMEN'S 10,000m
By Tim Hutchings
I think Paula Radcliffe appears to be Britain's best chance of a gold medal for the women's team.
Kelly Holmes also carries a lot of hopes on her shoulders but Paula's form rcently has been absolutely incredibly.
She conducts herself very well, her training has been going well, her husband is her agent and so she has got everything together.
Like Steve Backley, she is very happy within herself at the moment.
She is the fastest in the world this year at 10,000m. She has got major gold medals already this year for the world half-marathon championships and the world cross-country championships.
What must be said however is that her British record was set two years at the world championships in Seville when she ran her socks off and still only took silver.
She weas beaten by Geta Wami of Ethiopia and once again she could run a personal best by 10 seconds and still lose.
