European Championships 800 metres bronze medallist Becky Lyne says winning medals is a much greater ambition than breaking records.
The 24-year-old Sheffield star crowned an already impressive season when she finished third behind the Russian pair of Olga Kotlyarova and Svetlana Klyuka on Thursday night.
Lyne, with a time of one minute, 58.45 seconds in the Ullevi Stadium, dipped under the two-minute barrier for the fourth time this summer.
That consistency and her relatively young age immediately prompted suggestions she is nearly ready to break the British record held by Kelly Holmes.
Olympic champion Holmes set the mark of 1min 56.21sec 11 years ago at the IAAF Grand Prix final in Monaco.
"It would be nice, but I'd rather win medals," said Lyne who three years ago collected gold at the European Under-23 Championships.
After her wonderful achievement in her first full season on the global circuit, Lyne admitted she still has a lot to learn.
She said: "I've really got to pay more attention down the back straight and around the last bend and be more aggressive."
Lyne added: "I wasn't too badly boxed in actually, but they stole a bit of a march on me so I was a bit annoyed with myself.
"You can't give an inch in these races."
The British number one said: "It's starting to sink in now. I've had a bit of time to reflect and I'm really pleased at getting a medal."
Lyne's season is not over and she knows there will be lots of invitations before the end of September to compete at IAAF Golden League and Grand Prix meetings.
Lyne said: "I'm going to take it day-by-day. There's quite a few races dotted round Europe where I'd like to run to get more experience.
"But for the moment I'm just going to lay back and have a bit of fun."
