Jade Johnson was carried off before the long jump got underway at the European Championships in Gothenburg.
Johnson, who won silver in Munich four years ago, was rushed out of the Ullevi stadium by medical staff after injuring herself warming up prior to the qualifying round.
The 26-year-old Londoner was only a late addition to the Norwich Union GB team after proving her fitness following a minor operation for a kidney problem.
The full extent of Johnson's injuries have yet to be confirmed by UK Athletics, but she has not been taken to hospital.
A UKA spokeswoman said: "Johnson slipped on the take-off board during warm-up and is being treated by UK medical staff."
Meanwhile Kelly Sotherton failed to reach the final after finishing outside the top 12 athletes with a disappointing leap of 6.40 metres.
Home favourite Carolina Kluft managed to squeeze into the final however following her last jump of 6.53m.
